Hackettstown, NJ – The Centenary College women's basketball team wrapped up their regular season tonight with a loss to Immaculata University by a final score of 68-49.
Centenary struggled offensively in the first half shooting 21.7 percent from the floor (5-of-23) scoring just 14 points in the opening 20 minutes. The Mighty Mac defensive pressure forced 19 first half turnovers and turning them into points as they headed into the break with a 33-14 advantage.
In the second half, the Cyclones began to knock down shots with
Mallory George leading the way shooting 7-for-7 from the field for 15 second half points. George finished the night with a game-high 20 points and eight rebounds.
Despite the Cyclones shooting over 50 percent from the field after the break, Immaculata never let up to walk away with the win. The Mighty Macs were led by Alison Zimny and Meghan Gallagher posting 14 points each for a combined 12-for-22.
Centenary's
Kelsey Barofski and
Nicole Cartaino each added six points, while
Rachel Edwards chipped in five points in the loss.
Centenary ends the season with an 8-17 overall mark and a league record of 7-9, while Immaculata improves to 16-9 on the season and 13-3 in CSAC play.
