Three Starters Score in Double Figures as Men’s Basketball Falls to Gwynedd-Mercy

GWYNEDD VALLEY Pa. (Dec. 5th, 2015)- Despite having three starters score in double figures, the Centenary College men's basketball team dropped an Colonial States Athletic Conference contest to Gwynedd-Mercy, 77-69.

Julian Hyden finished with 16 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks for the Griffins who improve to 4-3 overall and 3-0 in the CSAC. Sophomore Myles McLeod (Teaneck, N.J. / Teaneck)  scored a game-high 22 points and grabbed nine rebounds for the Cyclones who fall to 5-2 overall and 2-1 in the CSAC.

In the first half, Centenary and Gwynedd-Mercy both shot well from the floor and behind the arc. The difference in the opening stanza was the free throw shooting, as the Griffins went 12-for-14 from the line, compared to the Cyclones who went 1-for-3 from the line. This allowed Gwynedd-Mercy to take a 45-35 lead at the intermission.

In the second half, Centenary attempted to claim their first lead of the afternoon, as McLeod scored six points in a row to cut the deficit to 53-48 with 10:30 remaining in the game. Gwynedd-Mercy answered the bell every time the Cyclones cut into their lead, and eventually they increased their advantage to as large as 15 with 3:16 remaining.
