McLeod Posts Career Night as Men’s Basketball Blows Past Summit in CSAC Opener


CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa. (Nov. 24, 2015)- Sophomore Myles McLeod (Teaneck, N.J. / Teaneck) scored a career-high 35 points, including 23 in the first half, as the Centenary College men's basketball team rolled to a 91-66 victory over Summit University to open Colonial States Athletic Conference play.

Junior Paul Jones (Trenton, N.J. / Ewing) totaled 13 points for the Cyclones who improve to 3-1 overall and 1-0 in the CSAC. Abe Valentine scored 21 points for the Defenders, who remain winless at 0-6 overall and 0-1 in the CSAC.

The Defenders had no answer for the Cyclones, as Centenary when wire-to-wire and never trailed in the game. The Cyclones opened the game on a 7-0 run, which including back-to-back McLeod jumpers. Summit made a push early, as they erased the Cyclones lead to trail by only one at 12-11 with 13:14 remaining.

Centenary responded with a 33-14 run to close the half with a 20 point lead. In the second half, the Cyclones ballooned their lead to as large as 29 and stayed in control to record their first CSAC victory of the season.

Junior Kyle Smith (Warwick, N.Y. / Burke Catholic) finished with nine points, as he connected on three triples, while sophomore Rashaan Spencer (Hackettstown, N.J. / Mount Olive) and senior Anthony Bailey (Florida, N.Y. / SS Seward ) recorded the exact same stat line with eight points, five rebounds and four assists.

Centenary edged Summit across the board in points off turnovers (17-2), bench points (22-13) and points in the paint (34-22).

Head Coach Tim Fusina and the Cyclones will return to action on Monday, Nov. 30th, as they will host the Nittany Lions of PSU-Brandywine at 7:00 p.m.
