George Ties Career-High as Women’s Basketball Falls to #9 FDU-Florham

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (Nov. 17, 2015)- Junior Mallory George (Berkeley Heights, N.J. / Governor Livingston) tied a career-high with 26 points and 15 rebounds as the Centenary College women's basketball team dropped a non-conference contest to the #9 Devils of FDU-Florham, 94-62.

Shalette Brown finished with 22 points and 13 rebounds for the Devils who improve to 3-0, while George made 12 free throws and grabbed six offensive boards for the Cyclones who fall to 1-1.

The Devils held a 13 point lead at 33-20 with 06:59 remaining in the second quarter. The Cyclones turned up the defensive intensity as they dwindled down the 13 point deficit to just three on back-to-back baskets by junior Melissa Rabe (Byram, N.J. / Lenape Valley) with 03:59 remaining.

That would be the closest Centenary would get to take the lead as FDU outscored the Cyclones 51-28 in the second half to remain undefeated this season. The final numbers were all in favor of the Devils, expect for second chance points, which Centenary edged out FDU 12-6.

George's performance tonight matches her career-high set in the 67-60 loss to Neumann University on Feb. 4th, 2015. In that game, George finished with a career-high 26 points and 16 rebounds.

Junior Kelsey Barofski (White Township, N.J. / Belvidere) finished with nine points and five rebounds in 23 minutes, while fellow classmate Alexis Wilson (Bayonne, N.J. / Marist) finished with six points, four assists and two steals.

Head Coach Andrea Kendall and the Cyclones will return to action this Friday, Nov. 20th in New York City at the Hunter College Tournament. The Cyclones will open the tournament facing the host Hawks of Hunter College at 7:00 p.m.
