Mallory George (Berkeley Heights, N.J. / Governor Livingston) tied a career-high with 26 points and 15 rebounds as the Centenary College women's basketball team dropped a non-conference contest to the #9 Devils of FDU-Florham, 94-62.
Shalette Brown finished with 22 points and 13 rebounds for the Devils who improve to 3-0, while George made 12 free throws and grabbed six offensive boards for the Cyclones who fall to 1-1.
The Devils held a 13 point lead at 33-20 with 06:59 remaining in the second quarter. The Cyclones turned up the defensive intensity as they dwindled down the 13 point deficit to just three on back-to-back baskets by junior
Melissa Rabe (Byram, N.J. / Lenape Valley) with 03:59 remaining.
That would be the closest Centenary would get to take the lead as FDU outscored the Cyclones 51-28 in the second half to remain undefeated this season. The final numbers were all in favor of the Devils, expect for second chance points, which Centenary edged out FDU 12-6.
George's performance tonight matches her career-high set in the 67-60 loss to Neumann University on Feb. 4
th, 2015. In that game, George finished with a career-high 26 points and 16 rebounds.
Junior
Kelsey Barofski (White Township, N.J. / Belvidere) finished with nine points and five rebounds in 23 minutes, while fellow classmate
Alexis Wilson (Bayonne, N.J. / Marist) finished with six points, four assists and two steals.
