ROSEMONT, Pa. (Oct. 7, 2015)- On Wednesday afternoon, the Centenary College Cyclones (4-7, 3-2 CSAC) got their third victory in a row by defeating the Ravens of Rosemont College (4-7, 3-2) 2-0.
The Cyclones got the ball rolling early, as sophomore
Jessica Benoit (Hazlet, N.J. / Raritan) headed the ball past Ravens keeper Andrea Dossantos on a couple of crazy deflections in front of the Rosemont goal, allowing Centenary to take a 1-0 lead in the 26
th minute.
Centenary continued to press the attack as they carried much of the play throughout the first half, but were unable to convert another goal as they held a 1-0 advantage at halftime.
The second half played out a bit different than the first, as the Ravens swapped keepers during the intermission, and played the half much more even. After a good chance by the Ravens, the Cyclones came back down the field and in the 81
st minute, Centenary sealed the deal. Freshman
Amanda Benoit (Hazlet, N.J. / Raritan) sent a nice cross to senior
Lorraine Dedrick (Trumbull, Conn. / Trumbull) who blasted it past the Ravens keeper Jenna Kaiser, to give the Cyclones a commanding 2-0 lead with only nine minutes remaining.
The Cyclones played passive for the remainder of the game and went home with their third win in a row after coming off a seven game losing streak, making this win even more important.
Head Coach
Kevin Davies and the Cyclones will now begin a three-game homestand, which will start with a CSAC matchup against Marywood University on October 10
th at 12pm.
