HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (Oct. 3, 2015)- Freshman
Kara LaPolice (Hopewell, N.J. / Hunterdon Central) recorded a hat-trick and totaled six points on the afternoon as the Centenary College women's soccer team defeated the Knights of Neumann University, 4-0.
Sophomore
Jessica Benoit (Hazlet, N.J. / Raritan) recorded five points on a goal and two assists for the Cyclones, who improve to 3-7 overall and 2-2 in Colonial States Athletic Conference. Kahlyn Ford made sevens saves for the Knights who fall to 1-8 overall and 1-3 in the CSAC.
Centenary struck first in the eighth minute as Benoit played a cross to LaPolice who found the back of the net for the early 1-0 lead. LaPolice wasn't finished as she scored her second goal of the afternoon off an assist from senior
Lorraine Dedrick (Trumbull, Conn. / Trumbull) to take a 2-0 lead. The Cyclones would maintain that lead until intermission.
After the break, Benoit decided to get in the scoring column for Centenary. In the 62
nd minute, she netted a header off a cross played by senior
Jaclyn LaGuardia (Wyckoff, N.J. / Ramapo) to give the Cyclones a 3-0 lead. LaPolice completed the hat-trick in the 77
th minute, off another feed from Benoit to give Centenary its final score of the afternoon at 4-0.
Centenary outshot Neumann 23-6, including 11-3 in shots on goal. In fact, the Cyclones only allowed one total shot in the second half alone.
