NEW YORK, N.Y. (Oct. 24, 2015)- Junior
Na'imah Spells (Irvington, N.J. / Irvington) collected 23 digs in two matches as the Centenary College volleyball team fell to both Hunter College and Grinnell College in a tri-match at the Hunter College Sportsplex on Saturday Morning. After the tri-match, the Cyclones now stand at 3-17 overall.
Grinnell 3, Centenary 0The opening match pitted the Cyclones against the Pioneers of Grinnell College from Grinnell, Iowa. The Pioneers dominated much of the match as they posted a .508 hitting percentage for the entire match. Olivia Fromm recorded 10 kills and Margaret Giles posted a match-high 24 assists. Freshman
Ashley Bierbaum (Hackettstown, N.J. / Hackettstown) finished with five digs, four assists and three kills, while senior
Vanessa McKellar (Annadale, N.J. / North Hunterdon) led the Cyclones with four kills.
Hunter 3, Centenary 0In the final match of the day, the Cyclones took on the host Hawks of Hunter College. The Hawks posted double digit kills and only two errors in all three sets as they cruised to the 3-0 victory. Taylor Haiduk-Kerr finished with 10 kills and Miranda Hogan posted 27 assists. Spells recorded a match-high 17 digs, while McKellar finished with nine digs and four kills. Freshman
Zoey Woody (North Brunswick, N.J. / North Brunswick) finished with seven digs, five assists and one ace, while fellow classmate
Giani Montalvo (Elizabeth, N.J. / Elizabeth) tallied two aces and two assists.
