Amanda Benoit (Hazlet, N.J. / Raritan) set career highs in points, goals and assists, as she finished with nine points on three goals and three assists as the Centenary College women's soccer team tied a single game team high for goals in the 10-0 victory over Summit University.
Sophomore
Jessica Benoit (Hazlet, N.J. / Raritan) recorded a first half hat-trick for the Cyclones who improve to 7-7-2 overall and 6-6-2 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference. Shalynne Laman took a team-high three shots for the Defenders, who fall to 5-11 overall and 3-8 in the CSAC.
The Benoit sisters had their fingerprints all over the first three goals, as J. Benoit scored the first two goals off assists from A. Benoit. A. Benoit was not done yet as two minutes later, she assisted on her third goal of the afternoon by playing a cross to sophomore
Emily Pizzuto (Flemington, N.J. / Hunterdon Central) for the 3-0 lead. J. Benoit would complete her hat-trick in the opening stanza, as she scored off a feed from senior
Jaclyn LaGuardia (Wyckoff, N.J. / Ramapo).Centenary would close the half with A. Benoit finally finding the back of the net on an unassisted goal and to give the Cyclones a 5-0 halftime lead.
In the second half, Centenary started where they left off, as A. Benoit scored off a feed from senior
Becky D'Angelo (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Cumberland Valley) to take a 6-0 lead. After junior
Jessie Sharr (Belvidere, N.J. / Belvidere) scored off a header, A. Benoit would collect her own hat-trick as she scored off a feed from Pizzuto.It would then be the seniors turn to get on the scoreboard, as D'Angelo would score off an assist from senior
Lorraine Dedrick (Trumbull, Conn. / Trumbull) and then Dedrick would net the final goal of the day to slam the door closed.
The Cyclones edged the Defenders on shots 27-6 on and shots on goal 22-1.
