HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (Oct. 10, 2015)- The Cyclones recorded a Division III season high 36 aces in a thrilling 3-2 victory over the Ravens of Rosemont College on Saturday afternoon. Freshman
Zoey Woody (North Brunswick, N.J. / North Brunswick) totaled 10 aces which also ties a Division III season-high.
Woody added nine kills, nine assists and had a .238 hitting percentage for the Cyclones who improve to 3-12 overall and 2-4 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference. Nadirah Anderson recorded a double-double of 15 kills and 11 digs for the Ravens, who fall to 1-16 overall and 1-6 in the CSAC.
The Cyclones took the first set 25-20 and then dropped the next two sets 25-23, before rallying in the final two sets 25-18 and 15-8.The aces proved to be the difference, as all the other numbers in the box score remained even. The Cyclones took the edge in points and aces, while the Ravens took the edge in kills, blocks, assists and digs.
Freshman
Valentina Suizzo (North Haledon, N.J. / Eastern Christian) finished with nine aces, junior
Na'imah Spells (Irvington, N.J. / Irvington) finished with seven aces and freshman
Giani Montalvo (Elizabeth, N.J. / Elizabeth) finished with five aces. Spells added 16 digs, while Montalvo finished with seven kills. Junior
Jamie Bierbaum (Hackettstown, N.J. / Hackettstown) finished with seven kills, five digs and four service aces, while freshman
Ashley Bierbaum (Hackettstown, N.J. / Hackettstown) finished with nine assists and four kills.
