Centenary Storms Past Baptist Bible College

Clarks Summit, PA – The Centenary College men's basketball team defeated CSAC opponent, Baptist Bible College 63-38 this afternoon.  With the win, the Cyclones improve to 6-5 overall and 3-2 in CSAC play, while Baptist Bible drops to 0-11 overall and 0-5 in league play.

In the opening minutes, Centenary jumped out to an early 5-0 lead, but the defenders answered back with a 5-0 run of themselves to tie the game at the 17:08 mark.  Both teams would trade baskets over the next four minutes and post a third tie (11-11) with 13:29 to go. 

Midway through the first half, sophomore guard, Kyle Smith knocked down a three pointer to give the Cyclones a 15-11 lead which would be the starting point of a 21-2 run to end the half with a 33-13 advantage. 

Centenary would maintain the lead in the final 20 minutes as the Defenders were unable to make stops on defense to close the gap.  The Cyclones held Baptist Bible to 30.4% shooting from the field (14-for-46) and 10% from behind the arc (2-for-10), while Centenary shot over 50% from the field and 31% from deep. 

In a collective team performance with 10 players scoring at least two points, Centenary dominated the paint outscoring Baptist 32-14 and posted 38 bench points. 

Sophomore forward Paul Jones posted a team high 11 points on 5-of-9 shooting from the field, while Andy Charles added 10 points (5-for-7) FGs, six rebounds and two steals.  Kyle Smith ended the day with nine points as did senior forward, Josh Case

Junior guard, Anthony Bailey added seven points, Myles McLeod chipped in six points and five boards, and Rashaan Spencer posted five points, three steals and three assists.    

Next up the Cyclones welcome the Griffins of Gwynedd Mercy College January 14th @ 8:00pm in the John M. Reeves Recreation Center.
