Cyclones Defeat MSMC Knights 69-56

Newburgh, NY – The Centenary College men's basketball team went on the road to face the Mt. St. Mary Knights and came home with a 69-56 non-conference win. 

In the first half, Zachary Duymich opened the scoring with a jumper to give the Cyclones a 2-0 lead, which would mark their only advantage in the opening 20 minutes of play.  The Knights maintained the lead throughout most of the half while their largest lead totaled nine points (32-23) with 4:45 left. 

Both teams traded baskets and were tied four different times which included a bucket from Anthony Bailey who tied the game at (33-33) to end the half. 

The final 20 minutes saw Centenary take over offensively as they came out on fire posting a 17-0 run to take (50-33) lead.  The Knights bounced back with a 12-2 run to get within seven with 9:22 to go, but Centenary would not relinquish their lead as they managed to get back up by double digits.

In his first start of the season, freshman guard, Rashaan Spencer tallied a game-high 14 points and three assists.  Teammates Andy Charles and Duymich chipped in 11 points each, while Duymich also dished out six assists with a perfect 4-for-4 from the stripe. 

Myles McLeod also added nine points on 4-of-7 shooting from the field and Hanif Holloway dropped seven points.  As a team, the Cyclones also controlled the glass by outrebounding the Knights 42-20. 

With the win, the Cyclones now improve to (4-4) overall, while the Knights fall to (1-5).

Centenary will be back in action in two weeks as they host Rutgers – Newark December 20th at 2:00pm.
