Hackettstown NJ – Earlier this evening at the John M. Reeves Student Recreation Center, the Centenary Cyclones (2-4, 1-0) ceased their losing streak and nabbed their first CSAC victory of the season by defeating Baptist Bible (0-5, 0-1) 79-28.
Centenary took the game over from the opening tip-off, as they sped out to a 12-2 lead within the first three minutes of the game on route to a 44-13 first-half advantage.
Mallory George and
Ally Fugnitti propelled the Cyclones to victory as they each finished with 15 points along with George almost grabbing a double-double with nine rebounds. Fugnitti also notched five assists and five steals in the win.
The Cyclones went on to shoot 39.8% from the field (33-83) and 31.3% from the arch (5-16).
Ally Fugnitti made the most of her 17 minutes from the field as she went 6-8 and 3-4 from three which helped get the Cyclones going early on in the game.
Sophomore forward,
Kelsey Barofski chipped in eight points, nine rebounds and three steals, while
Julia Presant added seven points.
Melissa Rabe also contributed in the win with six points and
Rachel Edwards with five. It was a combined team-effort for the Cyclones as every player on the team netted at least one basket along with 32 bench points.
Callie Kitowski did most of the damage for Baptist Bible as she posted 13 points and five rebounds.
It was an overall dominant performance from the Cyclones as they will look to bring their early CSAC success into their next game against Neumann University which will be held at the John M. Reeves Student Recreation Center @ 2:00 P.M. on Saturday December 3
