Hoboken, NJ – The Centenary College (1-4) women's basketball dropped a non-conference game to Stevens Institute of Technology (3-1) earlier this evening by a final score of 58-82.
In a tight first half contest, both teams were trading baskets where the Ducks held onto a slim two point advantage with six minutes to go before halftime. It was then when Stevens sparked a 9-0 run to increase the lead to 11 (34-23). The Ducks would maintain their lead for the rest of the half and head to locker room with a 10 point lead.
In the second half, Stevens controlled the offense as they came out hot with another 8-0 run to tack onto the lead (53-35). The Ducks would never relinquish the lead for the rest of the game as they continued to pour it on offensively.
Centenary's
Mallory George led the offense with a game-high 20 points on 8-of-15 shooting from the field and brought down seven rebounds. Junior guard,
Ally Fugnitti also added eight points in the loss with five assists.
Kelsey Barofski,
Rachel Edwards,
Taylor Pryslak and
Melissa Rabe each contributed to the Cyclones with five points each.
Steven's Brittany Washington led the Ducks with a team-high 13 points, while Daphne Ginn chipped in 10 points.
