Cyclones Fall to John Carroll University in Consolation Round

Scranton, PA – The Centenary College (0-2) men's basketball team fell, 109-93, to John Carroll University (1-1) in the consolation round of the Radisson / PNC Bank Invitational on Sunday afternoon in Scranton, PA.

Four Cyclones in double figures was not enough as John Carroll pulled away late in the second half.

Freshmen forward, Myles McLeod led the offense once again with his second double – double.  McCleod finished the day with 13 points and 10 rebounds on 6-of-11 shooting from the field.  Sophomore Paul Jones chipped in 12 points, Rashaan Spencer added 11 points and Anthony Bailey totaled 10 points off the bench.

Centenary maintained the advantage throughout the first half after shooting 62 percent from the three point land on 5-of-8 shooting.  But John Carroll University would answer back with three consecutive three pointers to take a nine point lead (25-34).

The Blue streaks would maintain that gap heading into the break by a score of 48-40.

In the second half, both teams would continue their solid shooting from behind the arc trading three pointers.  Centenary, however, would pull within one four separate times throughout the second half but couldn't seem to hold off the Blue Streaks offense.  With nine minutes left, John Carroll's, David Linane  posted 16 of his 19 points down the stretch to give the Blue Streaks their largest lead of the night (19).

Centenary's McLeod earned All-Tournament Team honors as he totaled 30 points and 22 rebounds shooting 13-for-22 from the field.

The Cyclones are back in action Wednesday November 19th for their home opener as they welcome Moravian College, tip-off starts at 7:00PM.
