Neumann Stuns Centenary With Late Goal

Hackettstown, NJ – The Centenary College Men's soccer team dropped a conference road match to Neumann University earlier this afternoon.  The Cyclones drop to 10-6-1 overall and 4-4 in the CSAC, while Neumann stands at 8-8-1 overall and a perfect 8-0 in league play.

In a tight matchup, Centenary held a slim (6-4) advantage in first half shots but it was Neumann's Devin Petersen that struck first as he netted a goal off a corner kick by Brook Skyers in the 40th minute.

The score would remain at 1-0 until Centenary's Kevin Brix sent the equalizer through the pipes in the 84th minute to give the Cyclones a clean slate.  Chris Flores recorded the assist on the play.

However, 11 seconds later, Neumann would take back the advantage as Christian Cortese netted his third goal of the season for the 2-1 victory on a header off a corner kick.

Centenary totaled 14 shots over Neumann's 11, but the Knights had the upper hand in corner kicks (6-2).

Junior Goalie, Jesse Goleman made two stops, while Knights's Dan Jones turned away seven.

The Cyclones currently sit tied for the #4 spot in conference standings and will wrap up their regular season with their last conference match against Rosemont November 1st @ 1:00pm in Rosemont, PA.
