Men's Soccer Drops CSAC Match to Marywood in OT

Scranton, PA – The Centenary men's soccer team traveled to Scranton, PA to face CSAC foe, Marywood University and fell to the Pacers 1-0 in an overtime thriller.

In a rematch of last year's CSAC Championship, both teams knew this game would be a fight to the finish.  The rainy weather conditions did not seem to be a factor since the first 90 minutes remained scoreless despite the opportunities.

Marywood controlled the offense out – shooting Centenary for a 27-13 advantage and 6-1 in corner kicks.  Junior keeper, Jesse Goleman, turned away several shots on target to record 10 saves and kept the Pacers out of the net for 90 minutes.

At the end of regulation, the rain soon became a downpour as both teams headed into overtime.

With 18 seconds left in the first overtime period, Marywood's Kris Kassel put an end to the game with a shot from 25 yards out into the upper corner and just out of reach for Goleman.

The loss drops the Cyclones to 8-4-1 overall and 3-2 in league play, while Marywood improves to 5-4-3 overall and 3-2 in the conference.

Centenary will travel to La Plume, PA to face Keystone College in CSAC Action October 18th at 5:30pm.
