Hackettstown, NJ – The Centenary men's soccer team shutout Immaculata University in this afternoon's CSAC Conference match, 1-0. The Cyclones improve to 8-3-1 overall and 3-1 in the CSAC, while the Mighty Macs drops to 2-10-1 and 0-5 in league play.
In a closely played contest, the Cyclones managed to control the offense holding an 8-2 advantage in shots and a slim 3-2 in corner kicks in the first half. Mighty Mac goalie, Michael Thompson, kept the Cyclones out of the net, turning away seven shots on target.
In a very physical second half, fouls began to pile on for each team. However, a costly Keystone foul awarded
Quinn Khouri (Eldersburg, Md. / Liberty) a penalty kick attempt. Khouri gave the Cyclones a 1-0 lead after converting the penalty kick in the 47
th minute.
Down one, the Mighty Macs did not give up as they increased the offensive pressure matching the Cyclones eight shots and holding a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks. Despite their efforts on the forefront, Centenary goalie,
Jesse Goleman (Pittsburgh, PA / Taylor Allderdice) was having none of it as he turned away all six shots faced to preserve the win and his sixth shutout of the season.
