Michael Dowling

Having been involved with horses for the past thirty years, Michael brings a great deal of equine experience to Centenary University’s Equine Department. Academically, diverse studies, from Fairfield University in Connecticut and University of Lancaster in Lancashire, England round out his education. Following studies in England, Michael opened Windham Hill, a training facility in northwestern New Jersey where the focus was on training and preparing horses and riders for the show ring.

His students have gone on to win classes at prestigious horse shows including The National Horse Show at Madison Square Garden, Devon Horse Show, Harrisburg and Washington International and The North American Young Riders Finals in Lexington, KY. Concentrating on managing and qualifying both horses and riders for regional, zone and national hunter, jumper and equitation finals, in addition to importing and selling investment horses, Michael Dowling has been very active in all aspects of the horse show industry.

Along with training, horse show management, judging, stewarding and course designing, Michael now brings his knowledge and experience to the students of Centenary University.  Michael has been coaching the Centenary University IHSA team to several victories including the National Championships in 2009, 2011 and 2014 and Reserve Champion in 2010, 2015, 2016 and 2017. Michael has also coached two of the three coveted Cacchione Cup winners at Nationals. He currently owns and operates Windham Hill, LLC, a training, sales and showing enterprise based in Long Valley, NJ.
