HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – The Centenary University women's soccer team returned to J.E. Reeves Jr. Field Saturday afternoon, falling to St. Joseph's University Long Island, 3-1.
The Cyclones (0-3) were highlighted by Elizabeth Fogarty's first goal of the season, which also marked Centenary's first goal of the 2026 campaign. Kelby Kaiser made her first start of the season in goal and finished with 11 saves. St. Joseph's opened the scoring early as Yamileth Fuentes found the back of the net at the 4:43 mark off assists from Samantha Villavicencio and Sophia Cagnetto.
The Golden Eagles added to their advantage in the 25th minute when Jocelyn Forseth scored off a feed from Bella Sweet to make it a 2-0 contest. Kaiser and the Centenary defense kept the deficit at two over the remainder of the opening half. Kaiser recorded six first-half saves, including four stops over the final 12 minutes, as the Cyclones entered halftime trailing 2-0.
Centenary broke through in the 61st minute. Fogarty found the back of the net of a free kick at the 60:23 mark, cutting the St. Joseph's advantage to 2-1. The goal was Fogarty's first of the season and the first scored by the Cyclones in 2026.
The Cyclones remained within one for the next 17 minutes as Kaiser continued to turn away the Golden Eagles' attack.
St. Joseph's eventually added an insurance goal at the 77:43 mark when Julia Dunne scored off an assist from Gabriela Saravia to extend the lead to 3-1. Kaiser recorded five saves during the second half and finished the afternoon with a season-high 11 stops while playing all 90 minutes in net.
St. Joseph's finished with a 23-1 advantage in total shots and a 14-1 edge in shots on goal. The Golden Eagles also recorded six corner kicks. Fogarty accounted for Centenary's lone shot, converting the opportunity for the Cyclones' first goal of the season.
The loss moves Centenary to 0-3 on the season.
