Hackettstown, NJ: The Centenary University Wrestling teams took on the Warriors of East Stroudsburg. Both teams look to build on these matches as the season continues on.
The Lady Cyclones faced a tough challenge against East Stroudsburg University, the No. 14-ranked team in the nation. Despite the loss, Jenna Magrino (131 lbs, So., Old Bridge, NJ) provided a major spark for Centenary. After battling from behind, Magrino turned the momentum in her favor and secured a fall at 2:32, showcasing grit, composure, and relentless effort on the mat. Her performance highlighted the Lady Cyclones' fight and determination against top-level competition. Our Lady Cyclone's that also competed were Elizabeth Galladay (So., 117 lbs, Voorhees, NJ), Kayla Melsky(Fr., 180 lbs, Phillipsburg, NJ) and Desirae Garcia, (So. 160lbs Passaic County technical institute, NJ). Lindsay Marshall (103lbs, Fr., Edgewater, MD), and Jordan Bellemare (145lbs, Fr., Ashland,MA) took the mat for the cyclones.
"The girls gave effort tonight, they went out and battled, I am very pleased with the way they performed tonight. These early stages of building always hurt. But we got to concentrate on the small victories at this point but the future is bright and in the near future centenary women's wrestling will be making a name for themselves."
