Hackettstown, NJ: The Centenary University men's soccer team fell 3–0 at home to Cairn University on Wednesday afternoon at J.E. Reeves Jr. Field.
After a scoreless opening half where goalkeeper Kevin Velasquez Mejia made nine saves to keep the Cyclones level, Cairn broke through less than a minute into the second period.
Despite the loss, Velasquez Mejia turned in a standout performance in net, registering a season-high 14 saves on 22 Cairn shots, keeping Centenary within striking distance for much of the contest. Offensively, the Cyclones managed six shots, including two on goal from Christian Trujillo and Sean Quinones, but were unable to find the back of the net.
Centenary moves to 2-4 on the season. The Cyclones will look to bounce back in their next match on Saturday.
