Cyclones Pick Up First Conference Series Win

Scranton, PA: The Cyclones win their first conference series of the season, as they split their double header against the Marywood Pacers. The Clones won game one in exciting fashion by a score of 8-7 and dropped game two by a score of 11-1.

Two-Way Star

Sophomore Jake Keenan absolutely stole the show over the weekend as he dominated at the plate and on the mound. Keenan went two for five at the plate and provided the team with three runs batted in. In the bottom of the seventh inning, Keenan jumped on the mound following a leadoff double and dominated the Pacers. He allowed zero runs to cross in his two innings of work, picked up two strikeouts, and gave up just two hits.

Freshmen Frenzy

First-year students Adam Yarrison and Dominick Chiego would have themselves a day in game one of the double-header. Chiego went 3 for 4 at the plate, putting him at a .500 batting average in the series. On the mound, Yarrison tossed two innings for the Cyclones and allowed just one run on four hits, and picked up one strikeout.

Two Outs? No Problem.

Senior Cole Heitzman stepped in the box with two out in the top of the eighth inning of a tied game. Heitzman had the opportunity to be the hero as the Cyclones had two runners in scoring position and he did not fail to capitalize. In the second pitch of the at-bat, Heitzman drove the ball to right center scoring Keenan which would ultimately be the game winning run.
