HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. –
Brandon Casey and
Timothy Kaiser III combined for 11 goals and five assists to lead the Centenary University men's lacrosse team to an 18-0 victory over Cairn University in the regular season finale on Saturday.
Andrew Marchese broke the school record for single-game ground balls with 24 in the contest.
Casey finished with a career-high six goals and one assist for seven points while Kaiser III had a career-best five goals and four assists for nine points.
Centenary jumped out to a 6-0 lead after the first 15 minutes of the contest. Casey played a big role in that advantage as he had four goals in the first period. Kaiser III had a goal and an assist during that stretch.
Goals from Kaiser III and
Sean Menjivar in the second period helped the Cyclones take an 8-0 lead at the half.
The Cyclones had another six-goal outburst, this time in the third period. Kaiser III had two goals and two assists during that 15-minute stretch while
Jason Toledo and Menjivar each struck for their second of the day. The Cyclones led 14-0 after the third period ended.
Centenary wasn't done yet as the Cyclones found the back of the net four more times in the fourth period. Casey scored two more goals, Kaiser III had a goal and an assist while
AJ Puerto scored his first career tally. That made the final score 18-0.

JT Doyle needed to make just two saves to earn the win in goal.
Harrison Clark made 12 saves in the loss for Cairn.
Casey's six goals in the game were the most by a Cyclone since
Kyle Mott scored seven against Keystone in 2019. In addition to his seven points, Casey added eight ground balls and two caused turnovers. Kaiser III added two ground balls to go with his nine points.
Menjivar (2g, 1a) and
Ronan Bova (1g, 2a) each had three points on the day while Toledo had two points (2g) and six ground balls.
Marchese was a perfect 22-for-22 in the faceoff circle with 24 ground balls. His 24 ground balls broke
Chris Howell's previous record for 22 set against Mt. St. Vincent in 2019. His 22 faceoffs wins are tied for second in single-game history.
