GALLOWAY, N.J. – Sophomore
JT Doyle broke the school record for single-game saves with 34 stops as the Centenary University men's lacrosse team fell at Stockton University on Saturday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play.
The Ospreys jumped out to a 9-1 lead after one period of play and eventually claimed the 32-4 victory.
Doyle's 34 saves in the contest broke the previous school record of 27 set by
Brandon Payne against Vassar during the 2000 season. His 34 stops are the most by a CSAC goalkeeper this season and are believed to be the most by a Division III goalkeeper this season (pending the outcome of other games on Saturday).
Stockton jumped out to a 19-2 lead in the contest as
Luc Swedlund had four first half goals while
Joey Tiernan had two goals and two assists.
Sophomore
Zeke Giorlando and freshman
Brandon Casey each scored in the first half for the Cyclones.
Stockton continued to find its way to the back of the net in the second half.
Freshman
Ronan Bova netted his first career goal in the third quarter while Casey scored his second of the day, also in the third quarter.
Eric Lindskog started for Stockton and made one save in the first half to earn the win in goal. Doyle made 19 of his 34 stops in the second half.
Swedlund and
Jackson Tilves each scored four goals for Stockton.
Tyler Horvath was a perfect 13-for-13 from the faceoff circle with nine ground balls.
Casey had two goals for the second straight games for the Cyclones. Sophomore
Andrew Marchese won 14 faceoffs and added seven ground balls.
Centenary is back in action on Wednesday, April 14 when it travels to Bryn Athyn for a 7 p.m. game.
