Kaiser III Leads Men's Lacrosse in Season Opener Against Rosemont

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J.Timothy Kaiser III had three goals and two assists to lead the Centenary University men's lacrosse team in the season opener against Rosemont College on Saturday afternoon.

The Cyclones struck first in this one as the freshmen duo of Brandon Casey and Ronan Bova combined for the game's first goal at 11:45 of the first.

Four goals from Brandon Krausse keyed a six-goal run by the Ravens and gave the visitors a 6-1 advantage with 4:17 to go in the second period.

Kaiser III scored two of the next three goals in the game for the Cyclones. His first tally was assisted by Jason Toledo.

Despite the goals for the Cyclones, Rosemont took a 7-3 lead at the half.

Rosemont scored the first goal of the third period and extended its lead to 8-3.

The Cyclones then scored back-to-back tallies and made it an 8-5 game with 8:48 to go in the third period. Sean Menjivar scored and then assisted on Kaiser III's tally. Kaiser III picked up the helper on Menjivar's goal.

Rosemont scored four straight goals and pushed its lead to 12-5 with 7:23 to go in the game. Krausse had two goals in that stretch.

Centenary got the final goal of the day as Menjivar found the back of the net off a pass from Kaiser III, which made the score 12-6.

Mark Porter made eight saves to earn the win in goal for the Ravens. JT Doyle made 11 stops in the loss for the Cyclones.

Krausse led Rosemont with six goals and four ground balls.

Kaiser III led the Cyclones with five points (3g, 2a) while Menjivar had three points (2g, 1a). Christopher Festa led the defensive efforts with four caused turnovers and five ground balls.

Centenary is back in action on Friday, April 2 when it hosts Kean at 1 p.m.
