SCRANTON, Pa. – Junior
Chelsea Estacio made a career-high 17 saves as the No. 6 Centenary University women's soccer team fell to No. 1 Marywood University, 4-0 in the Atlantic East Conference Tournament semifinals on Wednesday afternoon.
The two teams battled hard through the opening 10 minutes of the contest.
Marywood broke through at 11:11 as
Madison Blackshire managed to poke one past Estacio.
The Pacers added to their lead in the 16th minute as
Victoria Tzitzis put one in the back of the net.
Freshman
Ashley Brown, junior
Brelyn Cusano and freshman
Cassandra Ferguson all put shots on goal in the final 20 minutes of the period but
Rebekah Becker was able to turn them away.
Marywood took a 2-0 lead at the half.
The Pacers extended their advantage at 50:17 as
Josephine Source's goal came off a pass from Blackshire.
Blackshire's second of the day at 85:27 made the final score 4-0 in favor of the home team.
Becker finished with four saves to secure the win in goal for the Pacers. Estacio made 10 of her 17 saves in the second half for the Cyclones.
The game concludes the careers of seniors
