Janne Rowan combined for 23 rebounds and junior
Danika Brandt hit a key three-pointer as the Centenary University women's basketball team battled for a 70-68 win at Bryn Athyn College in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action on Wednesday night.
The Cyclones jumped out to a 6-1 lead as sophomore
Carly Tarnowski hit a jumper at 8:19.
Centenary extended its advantage to 10-5 on a jumper from Escano at the 4:53 mark.
The two teams traded points before a pair of free throws from Escano gave the Cyclones a 19-15 edge with 53 seconds showing on the clock.
Rowan hit 1-of-2 from the foul line with four seconds left to give Centenary a 20-17 lead after one.
Centenary scored the first nine points of the second quarter and extended the visitors' advantage to 29-17 with 5:13 remaining until the half. Tarnowski had four points during that stretch.
Bryn Athyn responded with a 9-0 run of its own and cut the Centenary advantage to three, 29-26 with 2:21 to go.
Centenary scored five of the final seven points in the period and took a 34-28 advantage at the half.
The Cyclones and Lions traded points to start the third quarter as jumper from Rowan at 7:04 put Centenary ahead by a 41-33 margin.
The two squads continued to battle and trade points as a three-pointer from sophomore
Taylor Bossert at 3:37 gave the Cyclones a 49-42 edge.

Victoria Jacobs at the buzzer gave Centenary a 53-47 lead after three periods of play.
Bryn Athyn opened the fourth quarter on an 11-3 run and took a 58-56 lead with 6:18 to play in the game. Clayshonia Cogmon scored six points during that run for the Lions.
The Cyclones and Lions continued to battle as a three-point play from
Kalie Soulsby and a pair of free throws from Cogmon pushed the Bryn Athyn lead to 66-62 with 1:15 showing on the clock.

Kayla Burnett and a big three-pointer from Brandt with 32 seconds to go turned a four-point deficit into a one-point advantage, 67-66 for the Cyclones.
The Cyclones went 3-for-4 from the foul line in the final 27 seconds to secure the 70-68 win.
Centenary shot 36.9 percent from the field and was 17-for-22 from the foul line. Bryn Athyn posted a 35.6 field goal percentage and was 20-for-30 from the charity stripe. The Lions held a 44-43 edge in the rebounding battle.
Escano led the Cyclones with 16 points and 13 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the year. Bossert added 13 points and four assists while Jacobs finished with 11 points. Rowan contributed nine points, 10 rebounds and five assists.
Cogmon led Bryn Athyn with 21 points and 13 rebounds.
The Cyclones wrap up the regular season when they host Notre Dame (Md.) on Saturday, Feb. 22 at 1 p.m.
