HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – Senior
Matt Miller scored his first goal of the season but three first half goals by the visitors proved to be the difference as New Jersey City University earned a 4-1 win over the Centenary University men's soccer team on Saturday afternoon.
The beginning of the game was a back-and-forth battle as neither team was able to dent the scoreboard for the first 25 minutes of the contest.
Edric De Paula put NJCU on the board at 26:26 off a pass from
Luis Laing. The Gothic Knights would go on to add goals from
Orlando Alcantara and a second De Paula goal before the half.
The Gothic Knights led 3-0 at the break despite three saves from sophomore
Paul LiTrenta and a team save as sophomore
Stephen Zuluaga got back to stop one.
The Cyclones got on the board in the 71st as Miller controlled a loose ball in front and banged it home.
NJCU tacked on one final goal as De Paula's third goal of the day gave the Gothic Knights a 4-1 victory.
Aldahir Cazun made four saves to earn the win in goal for NJCU. LiTrenta finished with five saves after making two stops in the second half

It's a quick turnaround for the Cyclones as they are back in action on Monday, Sept. 9 when they host Berkeley (N.Y.) at 4 p.m.
