Howell Leads Men's Lacrosse in Season Finale Against Stockton

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. - Junior Chris Howell matched his season-high with 22 faceoff wins to lead the Centenary University men's lacrosse team in a loss to Stockton University in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action on Tuesday afternoon.

Howell moved into second place on the single-season faceoffs won list as the Cyclones fell to Stockton by a 31-3 score.

Luc Swedlund scored five times in the first 15 minutes of the game as the Ospreys jumped out to a 13-0 lead.

The Cyclones got on the board in the second quarter as sophomore Timothy Kaiser III scored a man-up goal off a pass from fellow sophomore Nick Biango at the six minute mark. Centenary also got a goal from junior Noah Jones with 2:57 to go in the period.

Stockton had seven second period goals and took a 20-2 lead at the half.

Junior Nick Bogert scored a man-up goal off a pass from Biango at the 6:30 mark of the third quarter.

Stockton totaled 11 goals after the half en route to the 31-3 win.

Justin Ruiz made one save to earn the win in goal for the Ospreys. Sophomore Ryan Lacamera made double digit saves for the seventh time this season as he finished with 14 stops.

Swedlund led Stockton with six goals while Erik Anderson had four goals and three assists.

Bogert and Jones each finished with a goal and a ground ball for the Cyclones while Biango had two assists.

Howell finished with 22 faceoff wins, which matched his season-high set against Alvernia. The 22 wins gave him 174 for the season, which is one shy of Patrick Johnston's school record of 175 set during the 2013 campaign. He also added 12 ground balls in the contest.

The game marked the end of the 2019 season for the Cyclones, who will graduate Victor Marte, Ornette Sanchez and Josh Weiss from this year's team.
