HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – Sophomore
Courtney Deloughery had a pair of doubles in game-one as the Centenary University softball team fell to Wilson College in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) doubleheader on Saturday.
The Phoenix scored four runs late to earn the 4-0 win in game-one. Wilson completed the doubleheader sweep with a 7-0 victory in game-two.
Game One Recap (Wilson Won 4-0)
The pitchers were in control early on as neither team allowed more than one runner in an inning through the first three.
Wilson had a chance to break through in the fourth as the Phoenix loaded the bases. However, junior
Jessica Hewitt was able to get a ground out to end the inning.
The visitors broke through in the fifth as a pair of walks put two runners on.
Taylor Durant then delivered a two-out single right center that scored both runners for the 2-0 advantage.
Wilson added to its lead in the top of the sixth as a wild pitch and another RBI single from Durant made it a 4-0 game.
Centenary had a chance to get a run back in the sixth as Deloughery ripped her second double of the game down the left field line. Wilson was able to get the third out of the inning to leave Deloughery stranded.
The Cyclones had freshman
Kayla Morales reach in the seventh on a single to right but she was left on base as Wilson claimed the 4-0 win.
Megan Potter earned the win in the circle for the Phoenix as she gave up four hits and struck out 10 in the seven innings. Hewitt took the loss for the Cyclones after giving up two runs on five hits in 4.1 innings of work.
Durant led the Phoenix at the plate, as she was 2-for-4 with three RBIs.
Deloughery led the Cyclones with the two doubles in her three at-bats.
Game Two Recap (Wilson Won 7-0)
The Phoenix grabbed a 1-0 lead in the second inning of game two.
Jennifer Cail reached on an error, which allowed
Jenna Carty to score.
Wilson added to its lead with two runs in the top of the third.
Chloe Perrin had an RBI double while
Alison Shockey added an RBI single.
The Phoenix extended their lead to 7-0 with a four-run top of the fourth, which was highlighted by an RBI single from Perrin.
That inning allowed the Phoenix to secure the win.
Daphne Buzard allowed three hits and struck out four to earn the win in the circle. Sophomore
Roxana Gonzalez took the loss for the Cyclones after giving up seven runs on four hits in 3.2 innings of action.
Perrin led Wilson with two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored.

Janaya Gaetan all had hits for the Cyclones.
The Cyclones are back in action on Thursday, April 4 when they host NJCU for a doubleheader at 3 p.m.
