Men's Basketball Visits Cairn Tuesday in CSAC Semifinals

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – The fourth seeded Centenary University men's basketball team begins its Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) playoff push on Tuesday, Feb. 19 at 7 p.m.

The Cyclones travel to the top seed Cairn Highlanders for a game that was originally scheduled for Wednesday but got moved to Tuesday due to the threat of snow on Wednesday.

Centenary is making its first appearance in the conference tournament since 2016-17 and its seventh overall.

The Cyclones, who are 12-13 overall, are led by a trio of All-CSAC honorees. Freshman forward Billy Veras was named the CSAC Rookie of the Year and a Second Team All-CSAC honoree after averaging 12.9 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. First Team All-CSAC sophomore guard Chris LaBelle is leading the team and the CSAC while averaging 18.7 points per game and has dished out 92 assists. Senior Tom Weiler took home All-CSAC Honorable Mention accolades after contributing 11.3 points per game.

Cairn sits at 17-8 overall and is led by CSAC Player of the Year, Julian Collazo who is contributing 15.1 points and 8.7 rebounds per game. Malachi Hall, who was named the CSAC Defensive Player of the Year is contributing 16.5 points and 6.9 rebounds per game.

The Cyclones and Highlanders played two close games in the regular season as both games were decided by four points and one went to overtime. LaBelle averaged 25.5 points per game in the two contests against the Highlanders this year.

The winner of Tuesday's game advances to the CSAC Championship contest on Saturday, Feb. 23 at the site of the highest remaining seed.
