HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – The Centenary University men's basketball team set the school record for longest win streak, as the Cyclones defeated Wilson College 78-66 for their fifth straight win on Thursday night in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.
Sophomore
Chris LaBelle and senior
Tom Weiler led the Cyclones with a game-high 21 points each in the win.
The Cyclones sprinted out to a 12-2 lead as sophomore
Emmanuel Doh sunk a three-pointer at 15:09 and Wilson called an early timeout. Doh had a pair of triples during that early run.
Wilson responded with a 10-2 run of its own and pulled to within two, 14-12 with 6:51 to go until the half.
Ian Hess scored four points during that stretch for the Phoenix.
A pair of three-pointers from Weiler gave the Cyclones a 20-14 advantage with 5:13 showing on the clock.

Ian Frazier pulled the visitors to within four, 23-19 with 3:56 to go in the period.
LaBelle got hot from the behind the arc as he hit three three-pointers in a 1:03 stretch and pushed the Centenary lead to 32-19 with 2:17 to go until the half.
The two teams continued to battle over the final two minutes of the period. Junior
Emmanuel Osei made a lay-up with 12 seconds to go which gave the home team a 34-25 lead at the break.
The Cyclones scored five of the first nine points in the second half and pushed their lead to 39-29 with 17:01 to go in the contest.
LaBelle's sixth three-pointer of the game at 12:52 gave Centenary a 48-35 advantage in the contest.
Trailing 50-35, Wilson manufactured a 8-0 run and cut the Cyclone lead to seven, 50-43 with 9:03 to go in the game.
Centenary responded by scoring the next seven points of the game and pushed its lead to 57-43 with 6:44 showing on the clock. Freshman
Divine Anderson connected on a three-pointer during that run.
The two teams traded baskets as a three-pointer form Weiler with four minutes to play gave the home team a 66-51 lead.
Weiler sunk a pair of shots from the foul line at 2:56 which made it a 71-53 game. It was Centenary's largest lead of the game.
The Cyclones were 7-of-8 from the foul line over the final two minutes of the game to secure the 78-66 win and avenged one of their early season CSAC losses.
Centenary finished the game shooting 38.1 percent from the field and connected on 13 three-pointers in the game. The Cyclones also made 17-of-22 chances from the foul line. Wilson posted a 34.3 field goal percentage and made five three-pointers. The Phoenix were 13-for-24 from the foul line. Wilson won the rebounding battle, 49-46.
LaBelle finished with 21 points, his seventh game this season with 20 or more points. He also contributed four rebounds and three assists for the Cyclones. Weiler posted a career-high 21 points with three assists as well.
Doh contributed 12 points and eight rebounds in the Centenary win while Anderson finished with 10 points, nine rebounds and seven assists.
Keion Adams led Wilson with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
The Cyclones are back in action on Wednesday, Jan. 30 as they travel to Clarks Summit for a 7 p.m. game.
