HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – Junior
Justine Stefura made a season-high eight saves for the Centenary University women's soccer team on Tuesday night against New York University (NYU).
The Violets scored a goal in the first period and added three in the second half for a 4-0 victory over the Cyclones in a game that was played under the light at Hackettstown High School.
NYU took nine shots in the first 45 minutes of the game but was only able to get one by Stefura and the Cyclone defense. The Violets took their lead in the 11th minute as
Isabelle Turner scored off a run past the defense.
Stefura made four first half save for Centenary while junior
Raeanna Cope took a pair of shots.
The Violets scored three times in the second stanza to secure their 4-0 victory. Turner scored her second of the game for NYU while
Julia Raith and
Jade Keane also found the back of the net.
Meghan Marhan made two first half saves to earn the win in goal for the Violets. Stefura made four more saves in the second half and finished with eight in the loss.
The Cyclones are back in action on Saturday, Sept. 29 as they resume Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action by traveling to Keystone for a 1 p.m. game.
