ASTON, Pa. – Sophomore
Jon Fleck recorded multiple hits in both games as the Centenary University baseball team fell in a pair of Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) games at Neumann University on Saturday.
The Knights edged out the Cyclones 3-2 in game one and claimed a 6-1 victory in game two.
Game One Recap (Neumann Won 3-2)
Neumann struck first in game one as
Andrew La Rosa's single to left field in the third inning scored
Zach Ray.
The Cyclones evened the score at 1-1 in the top of the fourth. Senior
Kevin Sensale reached on a one out single and came around to score on senior
Michael Caprari's bunt base hit.
Single runs in the fifth and sixth innings gave the Knights a 3-1 advantage in the game.
The Cyclones cut their deficit to one in the seventh inning. Senior
Mike Dolan reached on an error and came around to score as senior
John Tierney reached on a fielder's choice. However, that was all the Cyclones could manage as Neumann claimed the 3-2 win.
Joey Gorman earned the win on the mound after giving up one run on seven hits in five innings of work.
Kutter Endy recorded the save after giving up one run in two innings of work. Senior
James Graziani took the loss after giving up three runs on five hits in six innings.
La Rosa led Neumann with two hits and an RBI.
Sensale, Fleck and senior
Tim Maxwell all recorded two hits for the Cyclones.
Game Two Recap (Neumann Won 6-1)
The Knights got out to an early lead with a run in the first and two runs in the second inning.
Centenary got one of those runs back in the top of the fourth inning. Fleck had a double down the right field line and crossed the plate following a wild pitch and an error.
Neumann tacked on three runs in the bottom of the seventh for the 6-1 victory. Ray had a two-run single in the frame to highlight the action.
Josh Cruz earned the game two in after giving up one run on seven hits in eight innings of work. Sophomore
Christopher Lilly took the loss for the Cyclones as he gave up three runs on four hits in two innings.
Ray had two hits and two RBIs to lead the Knights in game two.
Fleck and junior
Chase Koffel each had two hits for the Cyclones.
The Cyclones will be back in action on Monday, April 16 when they host Cairn at 3 p.m. at Diamond Nation in Flemington, New Jersey.
