Women’s Basketball Stretches Winning Streak to Five with Victory over Cedar Crest


ALLENTOWN, Pa. (Feb. 1, 2017)- Junior Rachel Edwards (Phillipsburg, N.J. / Phillipsburg) tied a career-high with 24 points as the Centenary University women's basketball team extended their winning streak to five games with a 67-41 victory over Cedar Crest College on Wednesday evening.

Senior Melissa Rabe (Byram, N.J. / Lenape Valley) finished with 13 points and 12 rebounds for the Cyclones who improve to 16-4 overall and 9-2 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference. Geminii Cabrera totaled 13 points and four rebounds for the Falcons who fall to 3-15 overall and 1-10 in the CSAC.

After struggling in the first quarter, Centenary buckled down on the defense end holding Cedar Crest to under 30.0% shooting and single digit points in both the second and third quarters. The Cyclones used a 20-9 run in the third quarter to extend their lead to 20 points at 51-31. Edwards totaled 17 of the Cyclones 36 points in the second half as Centenary ballooned their lead to as large as 30 in the fourth.

Senior Mallory George (Berkeley Heights, N.J. / Governor Livingston) totaled 16 points and eight rebounds, while fellow classmate Kelsey Barofski (White Township, N.J. / Belvidere) chipped in with eight points. Taylor Osley finished with 12 points for Cedar Crest in the loss.

Head Coach Rose Haller and the Cyclones will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 4th, hosting the Knights of Neumann University at 2:00 p.m.
