Softball Sweeps Notre Dame in Regular Season Finale


HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (Apr. 30, 2016)- Sophomore Carolyn Clites (Hasbrouck Heights, N.J. / Hasbrouck Heights) went 5-for-6 with three RBI's and two runs scored as the Centenary College softball team swept Notre Dame of Maryland in their regular season finale.  The Cyclones finish their season at 9-22 overall and 9-13 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference. The Gators finish their season at 7-23 overall and 3-19 in the CSAC.

Game 1: Centenary 4, Notre Dame 1
Junior Kylie Morgan-Polefka (Wharton, N.J. / Boonton) struck out a season-high 10 batters with only one earned run in the complete game victory. Clites went 3-for-4 with two RBI's, while junior Becca Raymond (Long Valley, N.J. / West Morris Central) went 2-for-4 with two runs scored.

The Cyclones rallied from a 1-0 deficit to score two runs apiece in the third and fourth innings.

Game 2: Centenary 7, Notre Dame 0
Sophomore Sammie Darling (Succasunna, N.J. / Roxbury) struck out five batters, while only allowing three hits in the shutout victory. Darling had only allowed one hit through six scoreless innings, before the Gators recorded two hits in the seventh.

Junior Alexis Wilson (Bayonne, N.J. / Marist) went 1-for-3 with four RBI's, including an inside the park homerun in the first and a RBI sacrifice fly in the second.  Clites and sophomore Raychel Piserchia (Lyndhurst, N.J. / Queen of Peace) both went 2-for-2, while junior Katie Lauria (Middlesex, N.J. / Middlesex) finished 3-for-4 with two RBI's.
