SAN JUAN, P.R. (Mar. 5, 2016)- Sophomores
Gabby Kramer (Garfield, N.J. / Garfield) and
Ashley Eisenstein (Freehold, N.J. / Freehold Township) each recorded a run batted in as the Centenary College softball team opened the 2016 season with a 10-4 loss to the Wildcats of Randolph College. The Wildcats improve to 5-2 overall, while the Cyclones fall to 0-1.
Centenary actually lead 1-0 in the top of the second as junior
Kylie Morgan-Polefka (Wharton, N.J. / Boonton) smacked a single to left field and then scored two batters later on a passed ball. Randolph responded with six runs on six hits in the bottom half of the inning to take a 6-1 advantage.
Randolph stretched the lead to 9-1 in the fifth, before Kramer and Eisenstein posted RBI's that cut the deficit to 9-4.
Sophomores
Carolyn Clites (Hasbrouck Heights, N.J. / Hasbrouck Heights),
Skye Kent-Suarez (Allentown, Pa. / William Allen), and
Sammie Darling (Succasunna, N.J. / Roxbury) all recorded a hit for Centenary. Morgan-Polefka struck out two batters in four innings and took the loss, while Lindsey Chaney fanned five batters and got the decision.
