Melissa Rabe (Byram, N.J. / Lenape Valley) and sophomore
Nicole Cartaino (Midland Park, N.J. / Midland Park) combined for 27 points and 21 rebounds as the Centenary College women's basketball team fell to Neumann University, 74-66 in the CSAC Quarterfinals.
JoHanna Metzger finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Knights who improve to 16-10 overall and will advance to the CSAC Quarterfinals on Wednesday. Junior
Mallory George (Berkeley Heights, N.J. / Governor Livingston) finished with 13 points and six rebounds for the Cyclones who finish their season at 14-12.
Rabe had a monster first half, as she scored 12 points on 5- for-6 shooting and grabbed six rebounds as the Cyclones only trailed the Knights, 34-27 at intermission.
George and Cartaino combined for 20 points in the second half, as the Knights controlled the lead for most of the contest. Neumann stretched their lead to 57-42 in the fourth quarter, but the Cyclones rallied late and closed the gap to 62-57 with 3:27 remaining.
Sophomore
Rachel Edwards (Phillipsburg, N.J. / Phillipsburg) finished with eight points and six rebounds, while junior
Alexis Wilson (Bayonne, N.J. / Marist) totaled six points, four assists and three rebounds. Neumann had four of their five starters score in double figures, including Lauren Legler with 14.
