Knight's Seventh Inning Rally Downs Cyclones in ECAC Tournament

Glenside, PA – A big seventh inning by Arcadia University (20-14-1) ends Centenary College's (17-15) postseason play.  The fourth-seeded Knights defeated the fifth-seeded Cyclones by a final score of 8-5 in this afternoon's ECAC South Region Baseball Championships.

Centenary opened the scoring in the first inning as Ryan Caparoni singled up the middle driving home teammate, Joe Forcellini who led off with a single to left.

After keeping the Knights scoreless the next three innings, the Cyclones tacked on another run in the top of the fourth when Nick Ortiz reached on an error allowing Nick Daniele to cross the plate for the 2-0 lead.

Arcadia would end their scoring drought with a run in the bottom of the fourth after Nick Todero started the inning with a triple to right center and later scoring on an RBI groundout by Connor Arsenault.

In the top of the sixth, the Cyclones pushed ahead 3-1 with the help of two Knight errors, but Arcadia would keep things close with a run of their own in the bottom half of the inning (3-2).

Centenary would make it 4-2 in the top of the seventh after an RBI single up the middle by Kevin Litus driving home Nick Daniele.  The lead did not last long as the Knights strung together five hits to plate six runs for the 8-4 advantage.

In the eighth, a walk and two players hit by pitches loaded the bases for the Cyclones but they were only able to push one across after Chris Ohweiler reached on an error scoring Forcellini (8-5).

Trailing 8-5 and down to their last at bat, the Cyclones once again left two stranded as a fly out by Ryan Caparoni ended the game.

Despite outhitting the Knights 12-8, the Cyclones left 16 runners on base throughout the game.

Centenary's Kevin Litus went 3-for-4 at the plate driving in one run, while Ryan Kanner collected a pair of hits in the contest.

Senior, Mitchell Renz suffered the loss giving up seven runs in 6.2 innings pitched while also striking out three Knights.
