Hackettstown, NJ – The Centenary softball team defeated Cedar Crest College in this afternoon's Colonial States Athletic Conference doubleheader. The pair of wins gives Centenary a 14-16 overall record and improves to 13-3 in league play, while the Falcons fall to 7-17 on the season and 6-10 in the CSAC.

Erin Walsh singled to score
Samantha Belmonte who reached on a fielder's choice.
Carolyn Clites would also come around to score on a sacrifice fly by Jess Curtis, while run number three came from
Becca Raymond as she scored on a passed ball.
Centenary would tack another two runs in the third after
Sammie Darling doubled down the left field line to send teammate,
Alexis Wilson home. Darling would account for the fifth run of the game scoring on a wild pitch for the 5-0 advantage.
The Falcons got on the board in the fourth inning, but the Cyclones put together a big fifth to end the game in five. The Cyclones belted out four hits scoring four as
Samantha Belmonte highlighted the inning with a two-RBI single to close out the game.
Kylie Morgan-Polefka pitched four innings giving up just one run and four hits while striking out three Falcons for her fifth win of the season.

Centenary 8, Cedar Crest 0In game two, the Cyclones controlled the game once again pushing out to a 5-0 lead after a big four-run inning in the third. Centenary registered three hits, but two Falcon errors proved to be costly. With bases loaded, Weingarten hit a single up the middle driving in two runs, while two errors accounted for the other two runs.
Heading into the fifth inning, the Centenary defense kept the Falcons scoreless as
Sammie Darling allowed five hits and no runs in four innings pitched, while striking out two.
In the bottom of the fifth, Centenary got their bats going once again after Weingarten and Darling put themselves in scoring position for
Alexis Wilson. Wilson then doubled to right field driving in the two RBI's. Rachel Piserchia stepped up to the plate pinch hitting for Belmonte and delivered an RBI-single to right center for the 8-0 victory.
Darling went a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate, while Clites also added a pair of hits. Weingarten went 1-for-2 with two RBI's, while Wilson also nabbed two RBI's off one hit.
Centenary is now riding a five-game win streak into their next game as they play host to No. 9 Neumann University April 21
st @ 3pm.
