Winter Haven, FL – The Centenary College baseball team opened their Spring Break play at the Russ Matt Invitational and dropped their first game to The College of New Jersey, 17-0.
TCNJ took the lead in the top of the second and amassed a 12-run advantage by the end of the third as the Lions registered nine hits scoring 10.
The Cyclones couldn't seem to get the bats going keeping them scoreless, while TCNJ would tack on two more in the seventh and three in the ninth.
Centenary's
Danny Derner suffered the loss for the Cyclones with two innings pitched and one strikeout, while TCNJ's Joe Cirillo picks up his first win. Cirillo pitched eight innings allowing just three hits and three strikeouts.
With the loss, Centenary drops to 3-2 overall and TCNJ improves to 2-2.
Centenary looks to bounce back as they take on The College of Mt. St. Vincent in a doubleheader tomorrow March 17
th beginning at 3:00pm.
