Cyclones Sweep Rosemont; Earn #3 Seed in CSAC Tournament

Rosemont, PA – The Centenary College men's basketball team clinched a playoff berth in the Colonial States Athletic Conference as they defeated Rosemont College 76-72 in their season finale.  With the win, Centenary (14-11, 11-7 CSAC) has earned the 3rd seed, while Rosemont (13-12, 11-7 CSAC) takes the fifth spot in conference playoffs.  As the third seed, Centenary has earned a home game in the first round of the upcoming CSAC Championship Tournament.

Centenary opened the scoring with a three ball from Rashaan Spencer and maintained the advantage creating up to a 12 point gap midway through the first half.  The Ravens would get within four before the break but back—to-back buckets from Andy Charles gave the Cyclones a 34-26 lead heading into intermission.

With the Cyclones hanging on to their largest lead of the half (48-37) at the 14:43 mark, the Ravens posted a 14-5 run to get within two (51-53) with 7:41 to go.

Rosemont would get within two points at the six minute mark as well as with two minutes left in regulation, but the Cyclones would never relinquish the lead. 

In the final minute of play and Centenary holding a 69-66 advantage, Zachary Duymich stole the ball and finished the fast break for a two possession game with 17 seconds left (71-66).  The Cyclones would hold on sinking 5-of-8 free throws to seal the win.  The win gave the Cyclones a sweep of the season series with the Ravens.

Senior Andy Charles and freshman Myles McLeod each finished with a team-high 16 points.  Charles shot 7-for-8 from the floor, while McLeod was 6-for-9 from the field and a perfect 4-for-4 from the line.  Rashaan Spencer added 12 points, grabbed five rebounds and dished out three assists.

Zachary Duymich and Paul Jones both tallied eight points, while Duymich handed out three assists and Jones brought down four boards. 

#3 Centenary will now host #6 seed Immaculata University Saturday February 21st @ 3pm for the first round of the CSAC Playoffs at the Reeves Gym in Hackettstown, NJ.
