Centenary Holds Off Marywood, 69-63

Box Score Scranton, PA – The Centenary men's basketball team are one step closer to clinching a playoff berth as they defeated Marywood University (67-62) in tonight's Colonial States Athletic Conference game.  With the win, Centenary improves to 13-11 overall and 10-7 in league play, while Marywood drops to 13-11, 8-9 in the CSAC. 

Centenary jumped out to an early 16-7 lead for their largest of the half.  The Pacers would respond with an 11-3 run to take a one point lead (20-19) after they drained four consecutive three-pointers with 8:22 on the clock. 

For the remainder of the half, both teams traded three-pointers while both teams made a combined 14 in the first half from behind the arc.  The Cyclones headed into the break with a 34-32 advantage after Djovan Beausejour netted one from deep.

After the break, Centenary held a 38-37 lead at the 18:18 mark and pushed ahead with an 11-1 run courtesy of Andy Charles and Myles McLeod.  Charles scored two buckets, while McLeod hit back-to-back three pointers for a 49-38 advantage. 

The Cyclones would push ahead to maintain the double-digit lead and posting their largest lead of the game with 5:55 left on the clock (62-49). 

Trailing 64-53 with 3:59 left in regulation, the Pacers put together a 10-1 run to get within two (63-65) with a minute to go.  The Cyclones would seal the game on the foul line going a perfect 4-for-4 in the final seconds to hold on for the win.

McLeod scored a team-high 15 points shooting 5-for-9 from the field and a perfect 4-for-4 from behind the arc.  McLeod also grabbed nine rebounds and two steals.  Djovan Beausejour added 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting, while Rashaan Spencer chipped in 10 points and dished out four assists respectively. 

Andy Charles and Anthony Bailey each netted eight points, while Charles also added six rebounds to become Centenary's All-Time leader in rebounds with (600). 

Paul Jones finished the night with six points, while Zachary Duymich chipped in five points and dished out five assists.  

Marywood's Connor Callejas led all scorers with 23 points, while Jeremy Ringland added 10 in the contest. 

Centenary will stay on the road as they visit Rosemont College in their final regular season game February 18th @ 8pm.
