Cyclones Drop CSAC Championship to Cabrini, 2-0

Radnor, PA – The Centenary College (11-8-1) women's soccer team dropped its final match of the season at the Colonial States Athletic Conference Championship to Cabrini College (14-6) by a score of 2-0.  This marks the fourth straight year that No. 1 Cabrini has won the CSAC Women's Soccer Championship.

The first 45 minutes of play Cabrini outshot Centenary 6-1 but the defensive line led by Nikki Crowley kept the Cavaliers off the scoreboard.

Midway through the first half, Centenary had a perfect opportunity to open the scoring when Samantha Sysak settled a pass for a chip shot over the goalie that narrowly missed the back of the net as the shot sailed high.

Unable to convert chances in the first half, both teams would head to the break in a scoreless tie.

Early In the second half, Cabrini turned up the offensive pressure posting 11 shots over Centenary's four.  But Senior keeper, Megan Williams made some impressive saves to keep the game even as the Cavaliers began to force their way through the back line.

It wasn't until late in the second half, where the Cavaliers finally managed to take the lead when Dana Peterson netted a goal off a corner kick by Gabby Meck in the 82nd
minute.  Devon Miller would add the insurance goal four minutes later (86th) with a shot to the upper left corner to seal the win for the Cavaliers.

Centenary's Williams made a total of six stops on the day, while Alivia Dietsch added two saves for Cabrini.

With the win, Cabrini earns the CSAC automatic qualifier into the NCAA III Women's Soccer Championship Tournament.

The Cyclones finish their season having earned three spots on the CSAC First Team All – Conference (Nikki Crowley, Samantha Sysak, Becky Camp), three for Honorable Mention All – CSAC (Emily Pizzuto, Laura Potter, Megan Williams) and Daisy Bazan with All-Sportsmanship honors.

The women's soccer team now awaits an Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) postseason bid.  Selections will take place early next week.
