Hopman got his senior season off to a flying start with six wins in two contests and a fifth place finish at the ESU Open.
Friday night at the Public Eliminations, Hopman picked up a pair of wins in the 184-pound category. Both of those victories came via a fall.
On Sunday at the ESU Open, Hopman battled back out of the consolation bracket to pick up a fifth place finish in his weight class. The senior dropped his first bout of the day by fall but bounced back with four straight wins. He got a win by fall in 1:10 versus Tyler Fisher of Kutztown. Hopman then defeated teammate Aaron Llanas by major decision, 17-5. He advanced via a medical forfeit and a no contest.

In the fifth-place bout, Hopman battled to overtime and secured a 9-7 decision over Josh Stillings of Drexel.
